Karkala: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa Sunday said that he will urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to set up a NSG unit in Bangalore at the CM's conference in New Delhi on January 6.
Talking to reporters here, he said the state had already put forward its demand to the Centre as it felt that there was an urgent need of setting up such a unit as several key installations including ISRO, IISc, HAL, NAL and BHEL besides several global IT and BT companies were functioning in Bangalore. These highly sensitive organisations required special security in the wake of the last month's serial attacks in Mumbai, he said.
Though Prime minister had given positive response to the state's appeal, Bangalore was not included in the list announced by the Centre for setting up of such units, Yeddyurappa added.
The chief minister said he would again take up the matter with the Prime Minister on the January 6 meeting, convened to discuss the law and order situation in the states.
