Gumla: An elderly man was killed by unidentified persons in Jharkhand s Gumla district while resisting a robbery bid, police said here today.

75-year-old Carlus Tirkey, a resident of Kalinga village, was killed late last night when he tried to prevent burglars from looting his house, they said.

One of the assailants shot him dead from point blank range and fled with Rs 30,000,police said, adding the victim s 65-year-old wife was at home during the incident.
