Jaipur: Two prominent Gujjar leaders today met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here and demanded Scheduled Tribe status for the community in the state.
They also demanded launching of a judicial probe into the Gujjar stir and subsequent police action in May-June this year in which 43 people were killed.
Kirorisingh Bainsala, who spearheaded the Gujjar stir in the state, and Atar Singh Bhadana, another influential leader of the community, met Gehlot separately, an official said.
They raised several issues pertaining to Gujjars which included conferring the ST status on them and launching of a judicial probe into the two-month-long stir.
Other demands included provided a government job to the next of kin of those killed in the agitation and release of all those lodged in jails in connection with the stir, the official said.
The Chief Minister assured them that he would look into their demands, he said.
