Delhi flight operations normal
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 11:13 [IST]

New Delhi: Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International airport here were normal today after being badly affected by the dense fog for last two days.

However, airlines sources said ten early morning flights were cancelled this morning due to "operational reasons" such as low passenger load and anticipation of early morning fog.

The runway visibility range (RVR) remained above 2,000 metres which led to smooth movement of flights, airport sources said.

About 10 early morning flights of Jetlite to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata via Port Blair and Lucknow and Jet Airway's Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Mumbai-Jaipur, Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Hyderabad remained cancelled.

Indigo's flight to Mumbai and Bangalore and GoAir's flight to Mumbai were also cancelled.

Flights operating in and out of Delhi were badly affected by the dense fog in last two days, as the visibility at the airport reduced to below 50 metres. Over 350 domestic and international flights got delayed and 35 flights were cancelled during the period.
