Patna: With an aim to develop itself into a "role model", the State Human Rights Commission in Bihar has taken a slew of measures to provide justice to its denizens.
Apart from keeping a watch on cases of unlawful detentions, police atrocities, custodial deaths, the Commission would also focus on the cases of human rights violations emanating from non-implementation of various government schemes, SHRC member R R Prasad told reporters here today.
"SHRC would take necessary steps to ensure that schemes such as Aam Admi Bima Yojana, Mid-day meal, Indira Awas Yojana etc are implemented properly," Prasad, also a former Bihar DGP, said.
"We have also sought report from IG (Prison) to submit details of people languishing in various jails for several years without trial," he said.
The commission, which was established in June 25 this year, would also rehabilitate victims of child and women abuse, he added.
Several cases of gross human rights violations, including those of lynching, were reported from the state this year.
