Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh High Court today stayed the order of state Assembly Speaker disqualifying three rebel MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
A division bench of the High Court stayed the order of Speaker K R Suresh Reddy upto January 28.
The bench proposed to hear further arguments on the writ petitions moved by the rebel MLAs on January 22, 2009.
The three TRS rebel MLAs - M Satyanarayana Reddy, T Jaiprakash Reddy and S Bapu Rao - questioned the order of the Speaker disqualifying them from the membership of the state legislative assembly.
The three MLAs were disqualified from continuing as members of the House as per paragraph 2(1)(a) of X Schedule of the Constitution for violating the whip issued by TRS and proposing the name of another candidate in last year's Legislative Council elections.
The TRS sought disqualification of the nine MLAs on the ground that they violated party discipline during Legislative Council elections in March 2007 and had proposed the name of K Gyaneshwar, chief of Mahajan party, and worked for his victory. Source : PTI
