BJP postpones national executive meet to February
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 18:30 [IST]

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has postponed its three-day national executive and national council meetings, scheduled to start Jan 23 in Nagpur, to February.

The party cited the Jan 26 Republic Day celebrations to put off the meetings.

"Leaders from far-off states might not be able to return home to participate in the Jan 26 celebrations if they attended the Nagpur meeting," a BJP functionary said here Wednesday.

Party president Rajnath Singh took the decision Monday, he said.

The meeting is expected to be held in the first week of February. The dates would be decided at the party's parliamentary board meeting Jan 2.
