Mumbai: Taj and Trident hotels, the targets of the 26/11 terror attacks, have decided to keep New Year eve celebrations a "low-key affair" to express solidarity with the victims of the three-day siege.
EIH-owned Trident hotel said it does not have any special events lined up to ring out the old year. "With respect to the affected families of last month's terror strike, we have chosen to keep the celebrations subdued," a Trident spokesperson told PTI.
The Oberoi Group hotel said neither it's hosting any in-house parties, nor has it taken private reservations. The hotel does not have any celebrity appearances.
"We don't have any bashes for the New Year. But we are welcoming our guests. The mood is quite upbeat," the spokesperson said.
Ratan Tata-owned Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel also reopened 268 rooms in its tower wing on December 21 after three weeks of restoration work.
"Celebrations at the Taj are going to be a low-key affair but, the mood is upbeat. Arrangements have been made to entertain guests during the night," a Taj spokesperson said.
Vice Chairman R K Krishna Kumar, Indian Hotels Company, which runs the Taj group of hotels, earlier said Taj Tower has a current occupancy of 62 per cent.
The Trident, Nariman Point, however, has registered an approximately 20 per cent check-ins today (December 31), the hotel spokesperson said.
