Thursday, January 01, 2009 14:44 [IST]
Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh and 11 other former ministers of Congress have been absolved of charges of corruption and other irregularities by Lokayukta Ripusudan Dayal, sources in the anti-graft ombudsman said.

Harvansh Singh, Jamuna Devi, Pyarelal Kanwar, Satyadev Katare, Subhash Sojatia, Sajjan Singh Verma, Mahendra Boudh, Urmila Singh, Gangabai Ureti, Rajendra Kumar Singh and Raja Pateria are the Congress leaders and former ministers who were given a clean chit, they said.

Digvijay and other Congress ministers faced charges of corruption and irregularities when the party was in power for 10 years (1993-2003).

However, cases against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and some BJP ministers and former ministers are still pending with the Lokayukta.

Apart from Chouhan, cases are pending against Kailash Vijaywargia, Jayant Mallaiya, Babulal Gaur, Anoop Mishra, Moti Kashyap, Chandrabhan Singh (all Ministers), Akhand Pratap Singh, Ajay Vishnoi and Kamal Patel (ex-Ministers), they said.
