Friday, January 02, 2009 09:29 [IST]

Lucknow: A blood-stained baton and electric cable allegedly used by BSP MLA and his accomplices to torture slain PWD engineer M K Gupta had been recovered by police.

"We have succeeded in recovering a stick with blood stains and electric wire used in beating and giving shock to engineer M K Gupta," Addtional Director General (Law and Order) Brijlal told reporters here today.

The recovery was made based on information of the accused BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari and his three accomplice in Auraiya district.

Both the rod and cable had been sent for forensic tests to ascertain finger prints and other details, he said.

The engineer died of brain hemorrhage after he was attacked by the accused on December 24.

About the role of MLA wife in the crime, Brijlal said she had been asked to cooperate with the investigations.
