Medininagar: In separate incidents, suspected Maoists gunned down a police constable while security forces foiled insurgents bid to blow up a cell phone tower and arrested a naxalite, police said today.
Chandrika Majhi was on duty at Chat under Manatu police station last night when suspected Maoists shot him dead, Deputy Superintendent of Police Aswini Kumar Sinha said here.
In another incident, police foiled naxalites bid to blow up a cell phone tower at Navaepur. When police opened fire on them, they retaliated and escaped into forests last night.
In yet another incident in neighbouring Chatra district, a Maosist was arrested during raids, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Jha said. He was suspected to be involved in several Naxal-related violences.
