Friday, January 02, 2009 18:44 [IST]

Motihari: A man and his son were stabbed to death, allegedly by two inebriated meat vendors, when they tried to separate the quarreling vendors at Dahavi village in Bihar's East Champaran district, police said today.

Station House Officer (SHO), Harisidhi police station, K M Gupta said the two meat vendors Shaukat Mian and Shorab Mian were returning home when they had an altercation on a trivial issue.

Hearing their shouts, Kehedan Mian and his 18-year old son Firoz Mian, tried to separate them but the meat vendors, who were intoxicated, turned on the father-son duo and allegedly began stabbing them.

The vendors escaped escaped as the two died soon after and the police later took away the bodies for autopsy at Sadar Hospital.

A police force has been posted at the village as angry locals gathered in the area in search of Shaukat and Shorab Mian, both absconding.
