Kanpur (UP): Spelling more trouble for BSP, police here have registered a case against a local leader of the ruling party in UP for allegedly raping and killing a 24-year-old girl.
An FIR has been lodged against Ramesh Yadav and his driver Chaudhary who are absconding since Hari Prasad Pandey, a resident of Neuri village, accused them of rape and murder of his daughter, Senior Superintendent of Police Hari Ram Sharma said today. Yadav is the husband of the pradhan of Neuri village Shashi.
Police said that half-burnt body of an unidentified woman was recovered in Govind Nagar locality on December 28.
After a notice was published in local newspapers, Pandey contacted the police and identified the victim as his daughter Sonam. The SSP said that initially, Pandey did not name any person in his FIR but later moved a separate complaint alleging Ramesh Yadav s involvement. The victim's father alleged that Yadav and his driver Chaudhary raped and killed Sonam and to conceal the crime, they tried to dispose off her body. "We have pressed a number of teams to arrest the two," Sharma said, adding that the police found that Yadav had a criminal record.
