New Delhi: The US today said it was with India in its fight against terrorism and appreciated formation of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to deal with terrorism across the country.
During a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here, US Ambassador David Mulford also expressed commitment of his people to unitedly fight against terrorism.
Mulford described as a right step the commissioning of the NIA, which will have concurrent jurisdiction and empowers the Central Government to probe terror attacks in any part of the country.
He said the US had taken strict measures to combat terrorism after 9/11 terrorist attacks.
At the meeting, Mulford handed over an invitation from the Mayor of Chicago to Dikshit to participate in the Global Cities Forum to be held in the city in the month of April.
Mulford also invited the Chief Minister to a function at the US Embassy here on January 5 to commemorate 50 years of US-Indo Relations.
On January 5 in 1950, the present building of US Embassy was inaugurated. Mulford described Delhi as a major center of education.
Dikshit while stating her priorities related to the Commonwealth Games said the progress of projects related to the event was satisfactory.
Mulford said all Delhiites are eagerly awaiting the hosting of the Commonwealth Games as it would enhance image of the city. Source : PTI
