Saturday, January 03, 2009 19:58 [IST]

Faizabad: With the Centre withdrawing it's order on eliminating the man-eater tiger, a team of World Wildlife Federation has arrived in Faizabad to catch the big cat alive.

The tiger, which strayed into human settlements and killed two persons recently at Pilibhit and Barabanki, has been giving a slip to UP forest officers for a month now, Faizabad district forest officer OP Singh said.

A team of three tiger experts from WWF arrived on Staurday morning to catch it alive from dense Himalayan forest. Tiger experts Bilaal, Rauf and V Paynda arrived from WWFs South Asia centre in Kathmandu, in Nepal launched an operation to trace the tiger.

Pynda said the tiger would be tranquilised and taken to the enclosure.
