Panikulam: The security in the coastal areas of the state has been tightened in the wake of Sri Lankan army capturing Killinochi and following reports that militants could escape from the area and come to India.
Police officials today said armed police guards had been deployed at Pamban, Rameswaram, Mandapam and Vethalai to monitor the coastal areas.
Additional police reinforcement had been sent to Mandapam Refugee camp, officials sources said.
