Dehra Dun: Residents of Garur town of Bageshwar district near here staged a protest and observed a bandh in the area following the alleged rape and murder of a minor hailing from the locality.

Police said the victim, five-year-old daughter of Hem Chand Dubey, was reported missing on January 2.

During investigation, police recovered the half-burnt body of the girl from bushes near a drain in Garur, after which a case of rape and murder against unidentified persons was registered.

Following the incident, the residents demanded immediate arrests of the culprits and blocked the main road.
