LONDON: Prince William has taken Kate Middleton, his girlfriend of six years, on a surprise Scottish holiday with his father Prince Charles and stepmother Camilla Parker Bowles.
The couple had been expected to visit the Alps but landed on New Year's Day at Birkhall, Prince Charles's private residence in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, reports thesun.co.uk.
A source said: "This is the first time William has taken Kate away with his father. It has certainly caused some excitement."
Both William and Kate were keen to take a break as the former would begin an 18-month-long helicopter course within a week.
