By-poll for Tamar assembly seat begins
Monday, January 05, 2009 11:00 [IST]
Ranchi: Polling for the Tamar assembly seat from where Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren is seeking his election began this morning amid tight security.

Soren is among 15 other candidates contesting for the seat, which had fallen vacant after JD(U) legislature party leader Ramesh Singh Munda was killed by suspected Maoists on July 9 last year.

According to Deputy Election Officer C K Singh, nearly 35 companies of para-military forces have been deployed, besides the state police to oversee the election process.

The results for the seat will be announced on January 8.
