Cambridge University VC to visit India
Monday, January 05, 2009 12:59 [IST]

London: The vice-chancellor of Cambridge University is set to visit India this month to broaden the scope of partnerships between the university and Indian industry.

Alison Richard’s visit between Jan 8 and 18 will see her touring Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, according to a Cambridge University press release.

A key theme of her visit will be how Cambridge and India can work together to address crucial environmental challenges.

In New Delhi, she will be giving a lecture "Cambridge and the environment" at the British Council.

She will sign a memorandum of understanding for future collaboration with Infosys in Bangalore.

In Mumbai, she will visit the Indian Institute of Technology and the University of Mumbai, meet with Tata Sons Ltd with whom a partnership agreement was signed last January, and attend an academic symposium on university-industry links organised jointly with the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The visit will build on the success of her visit last January, “strengthening and celebrating important bonds with alumni, higher education and business, and celebrating the Cambridge India Partnership”, the release said.
