Hoshiarpur: A newly wedded bride allegedly decamped with gold ornaments, provided by her NRI husband and her parents in the marriage, on the next night after her wedding at village Miani in this district, police said.

NRI Jasbir Singh, son of Harbhajan Singh of village Miani in his complaint to the Tanda police station last night stated that after coming from France, he was married with Jasbir Kaur, daughter of Gurmit Singh, resident of village Dumana on December 30 last year.

On the night of December 31, his wife Jasbir Kaur served him meal. He alleged that she mixed some intoxicant in the meal and soon after consuming it, he became unconscious.

After collecting gold ornaments given by him and her parents in the marriage, she fled leaving him in the house unconscious.

On the next morning , when the family members found Jasbir Singh unconscious, they admitted him in the Civil Hospital, Tanda. They also searched for Jasbir Kaur everywhere, but all their efforts want in vain.

Tanda police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC in this connection and were actively searching Jasbir Kaur.
