Jalandhar: Punjab Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) today claimed to have seized 14 Kg of heroin worth Rs 70 crore in the International Market from the Abohar sector.
Today morning a special search was conducted with the mobilization of troops ahead of border security fence in the area of Border Out Post, S S Wala, press release stated here adding that during the operation, BSF party has recovered 14 packets of Heroin (1 kg each) and four watches concealed by Pakistani smugglers and was to be cleared by their Indian accomplices by adopting conceal and clear methods.
BSF had seized 115 kg of heroin from the international boundary of Punjab with Pakistan since January 2008, release added.
The area opposite to the Punjab border with Pakistan was always under threat of exploitation by narcotic smugglers due to record production of heroin in Afghanistan was encouraging trans- National Gangs of narcotics smugglers of Pakistan and India to infuse the supply of heroin through the area of Punjab border for its onward destination to Europe and North America, release stated.
However the alertness of BSF troops has always been an impediment to their attempts and the enhanced vigil of BSF Field Units has repeatedly thwarted attempt of smugglers to smuggle heroin to India, it added.
