Bundi: Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today voiced concern over the sacking of Indian priests in Nepal's holiest temple Pashupatinath, saying the situation in the Himalayan country had turned "anti-India" after the Maoists assumed power.
"The situation in Nepal had turned anti-India after the communist government assumed power dethroning monarchy. Nepal, with the backing of China, might turn into another Pakistan," he said.
A row had erupted in Nepal after the Maoist government had forced three Indian priests, including chief Priest to resign and appointed two Nepalese priests to replace them sparking widespread agitation.
Shekhawat had a brief stay here while returning to Jaipur from Kota.
While speaking to reporters, he ruled out speculation of his contesting the upcoming parliamentary elections.
When asked about reasons for BJP's defeat in Rajasthan during the recent assembly elections, Shekhawat, who had assumed chief ministership of the state thrice, declined to comment though he referred the role of dissident party workers as one of the key factors.
