Heavy fog disrupts flight operations at IGI
Tuesday, January 06, 2009 09:27 [IST]
New Delhi: After a day's respite, fog once again disrupted operations at the Indira Gandhi Airport (IGI) this morning with 15 flights, both from domestic and international carriers, delayed while 10 others are cancelled.

The general visibility dropped to 50 metres and the runway visibility dipped at 150 metres disrupting the operation, airport officials said.

A fog blanket began to envelope the national capital airport late last night and visibility deteriorated following which airport authorities implemented the Low Visibility Procedure (LVP).

After a brief respite for a day yesterday, passengers are once again facing the problem of delayed and cancelled flights.

Over 100 flights were cancelled and more than 600 delayed due to the dense fog last week.
