Lucknow: Seven members of a family were killed Tuesday when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The accident took place when a jeep in which the family was travelling collided head-on with a speeding truck in Sultanpur district, about 15 km from here, along the Sultanpur-Varanasi route.

"We are yet to ascertain the whereabouts of the deceased. Seven people, including a child and two women, were killed," police inspector Pankaj Tiwari told IANS on phone.

He said the driver of the truck was absconding.
