Raipur: The action taken against two BJP MPs Tara Chand Sahu and Shiv Prakash Singh will send a strong message to those indulging in anti-party activities, Chhattisgarh unit President Vishnudeo Sai said today.
The action is a clear signal that any indiscipline in the party will not be tolerated, Sai told PTI.
Cracking the whip against the two Members of Parliament, BJP today expelled Sahu of Lok Sabha and suspended Singh of Rajya Sabha on the charge of anti-party activities during last year's Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.
The BJP State President said show cause notices had also been issued to 250 partymen to explain their anti-party activities during election and said necessary action would be taken after receiving their reply.
Sai said the action against the two lawmakers will not have any adverse impact on the party prospects in the coming general elections.
When reached for his reaction, Sahu said "It was too early to comment". He said he will comment on the party's decision at an "appropriate time."
Both the BJP lawmakers had openly resisted the choice of candidates in the run up to the Assembly polls and had also campaigned against official candidates, party sources said.
