New Delhi: Delhiites woke up to a sunny morning today even as the minimum temperature dipped by 1.5 notches to touch a low of 5.9 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was one degree below normal during this point of time, the MeT office said here.
For the past couple of days, the minimum temperature was hovering around eight degrees Celsius.
January this year has been warmer as compared to the last year when the minimum dropped below five degrees Celsius a number of times.
The season's lowest temperature was recorded on January 2 when the minimum temperature plummeted to four degrees Celsius. In 2008,the lowest temperature during the month was recorded on January two when the mercury dipped to 1.9 degree Celsius.
The record minimum temperature in the month was recorded on 16th during the year of 1935 when the temperature fell to -0.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum in 2006 had slumped to 0.2 degrees Celsius.
The Weatherman has forecast a misty morning with mainly clear sky for the denizens tomorrow and temperature hovering between a minimum of five degrees Celsius and a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius.
However, the Weatherman said that fog may re-visit the city on Friday.
Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International airport here, which was badly affected by fog for over a week, were normal today with almost all flights operating as per schedule due to clear weather.
The general visibility remained above 1,000 metres while the runway visibility was more than 2,000 metres since last night, airport officials said. Source : PTI
