Shimla: The cold wave continued unabated in Himachal Pradesh today with the higher reaches experiencing snowfall and slight rainfall in the state capital.
The Met department said there were reports of snowfall last night at Keylong in Lahual-Spiti, Kinnaur, and the high peaks in Kullu and Chamba.
Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahual-Spiti, registered 8 cm snowfall while it was 5 cm in Kalpa, the department said.
There was snowfall in Rohtang Pass, which connects Kullu valley to Lahaul valley.
A report from Kinnaur said district headquarters Recong Peo and higher reaches of Kinner Kailash, Srikhand and Pooh experienced snowfall last night. A report from famous tourist destination of Manali said there was snowfall in higher reaches of Dhamta, Friendship peak, entire range of Pir Panjal and Solang Nallah.
The Met office said it also snowed at Pangi and Bharmour valley of Chamba and the Khajjiar lake and Manimahesh lake in the district have frozen due to the cold.
Though there was only light drizzle and no snowfall in the state capital, the minimum stood at a near freezing 1.2 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures in Keylong and Kalpa were recorded at -11.7 and -6 degrees Celsius respectively.
There was reports of rains at Sundernagar (3.3 mm), Dharamsala (5.8 mm) and Bhuntar (1.6 mm), the sources said.
