Bikers open fire at Delhi businessman's car
Thursday, January 08, 2009 03:47 [IST]

New Delhi: Four unidentified motorbike-riders opened indiscriminate gunfire at a car but a businessman and three of his employees who were riding the car escaped unharmed, the police said Wednesday.

The assailants waylaid the Wagon-R car of Sushil Jindal, a 42-year-old shoe trader, near the Wazirpur depot flyover in Keshav Puram area in northwest Delhi around 9.30 p.m. Tuesday. Jindal was returning home with his driver Rajinder and employees Hariom and Vijay.

The police said it seemed the assailants were following the car for a while before they waylaid it and opened indiscriminate fire at it.

But fortunately Jindal and his employees, who were sitting in the back seat, ducked the fire and the driver sped off the car.

“It could be a case of road rage or robbery may be the motive. Personal enmity can also be not ruled out as yet. We have registered a case and are exploring all possible angles,” said a police officer.

Jindal said he had no idea assailants were following his car.

"We fled from the spot in the same car and left the bikers behind. We got out of the car near the Kohat Enclave Metro Station and ran to save our lives. We then called police," said Jindal.
