Barcelona: Spanish fashion designer and entrepreneur Armand Basi died in Barcelona after a long illness, his company has said. Basi was 84.
Basi's company, founded in 1948, grew to be one of Spain's biggest fashion houses, participating in Paris and London fashion shows and counting among its clients the likes of Tom Cruise and Will Smith.
In addition to clothes, Armand Basi makes shoes, accessories, perfumes and watches that are sold in Europe, North America and Asia. The company holds the licence for Lacoste in Spain.
