Cold wave condition continues in J-K

Srinagar: Biting cold weather conditions continued unabated in Jammu and Kashmir as the night temperature in Kargil and Leh districts of frontier region of Ladakh dipped to minus 18.6 and minus 15.0 degree Celsius, respectively.

In Kashmir, famous tourist spots of Pahalgam and Kokernag were the coldest places with minimum temperatures of minus 2.8 and minus 2.7 degree Celsius respectively, MET office said.

Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius which was three degrees above normal.

Kupwara in north Kashmir witnessed a low of minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, while Srinagar recorded 0.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

Jammu, winter capital of the state, recorded a low of 8.3 degrees Celsius followed by Katra (8.1), Batote (1.0), Banihal (0.1) and Bhaderwah (0.6).
