Cold wave eases in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh: Cold wave conditions today eased in most parts of the Haryana as the minimum temperature increased, but Punjab continued to be under its grip, with Ludhiana to be the coldest place at 3.5 degrees Celsius. However, there was no respite for Amritsar, as the minimum settled at 3.6 C, the Meteorological Department said here.

Patiala also braved a cold night at 5.8 C, one below normal. While, the minimum at Chandigarh settled two notches above normal at 7.6 C.

In Haryana, Hisar registered a low of 10.2 C, five above normal, while Rohtak recorded a low of 8.4 C, up two degrees.

Karnal also witnessed increase in the minimum temperature settling at 8.6 C, up by two degrees. The low at Ambala settled at 6.1 C.

However, Narnaul continued to brave the chill registering a low of 3.5 C, two below normal, the office said.

Fog has lifted from most parts of the region and visibility has also improved in the morning, MET said.

Today, the visibility level at Amritsar was 800 m, Pathankot 500 m, Adampur 800 m, Bathinda 800 m, while at Ambala it was 500 m, they said.
