The Obamas have decided to retain the incumbent White House chef, Cristeta Comerford who had earlier created history by becoming the first woman to hold this post.

Comerford, incidentally, had created history in 2005 when Laura Bush, the outgoing first lady, selected her to become the first woman to hold this post.

Announcing her decision to retain Comerford, the incoming first lady, Michele Obama, said in a statement issued on Friday, "Cristeta Comerford brings such incredible talent to the White House operation and came very highly regarded from the Bush family."

"Also the mom of a young daughter, I appreciate our shared perspective on the importance of healthy eating and healthy families. I look forward to working with her in the years to come."

Soon after the November 4 election, there has been widespread speculation in America's culinary world as to who would be lucky enough to bag this position. The statement from Michele Obama has brought an end to that speculation.
