Suspected Pakistani spy arrested in Uttar Pradesh
Saturday, January 10, 2009 19:21 [IST]

Lucknow: A suspected agent of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district with sensitive documents related to the army, police said Saturday.

"Maps of army units in Meerut and Dehradun have been recovered from Ameer Ahmad, who hails from Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh," Meerut district police chief Raghuveer Lal told IANS on telephone. He said police had learnt that Ahmad underwent an 18-day training course conducted by the ISI in Karachi. According to police sources, Ahmad may also be linked to the Nov 26-29 Mumbai terror strikes.

"He had passed on vital information about military deployments to ISI agents in Lahore and Karachi for executing the attacks," said a senior police official. Meerut is some 400 km from Lucknow.
