Seven arrested in Uttar Pradesh triple murder case
Monday, January 12, 2009 15:03 [IST]

Lucknow: Seven members of a family have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly killing three men, related to the rapist of a five-year-old girl, a police officer said Monday.

The three men were shot dead by the girl's father and other family members in Leharpur locality of Sitapur district, about 90 km from here, Saturday. Those killed were the father and two brothers of rape accused Pramod, who is lodged in a Sitapur jail.

"While five people, including the girl's father Guddu Shukla were arrested Sunday night, two others were nabbed today (Monday) morning," police inspector Subhash Chandra Tripathi told IANS by telephone.

He said two country made pistols, used in the killing, have been recovered from Shukla.

"Efforts are on to nab two more members of the family involved in the triple murder," Tripathi added.

The family members wanted to take revenge against the rapist, a police officer said.
