Munger: One criminal was killed and the other one injured in an ongoing encounter between the police and Haro Yadav gang in Sindhiya riverine area under Sisiyabad police station of Bihar's Munger district today, police said.

DySP Arvind Thakur, who is leading the police team, said the criminal, who was killed in the encounter, has been identified as Ranju Yadav, 22,and injured criminal was identified as Rupesh Yadav.

The police seized two rifles from their possession, he said.

The farmers of the area had complained with the Superintendent of Police M Sunil Nayak about the loot of crop by Haro Yadav gang. The police conducted the raids in Sindhiya riverine area during which it (police) encountered with Haro Yadav gang.

Criminals opened fire on the police after seeing them, the police also retaliated in which one criminal was killed and another injured.

The encounter between police and the gang was still on, the SP said.
