Apna Dal demands CBI enquiry
Monday, January 12, 2009 16:43 [IST]

Varanasi: Apna Dal has demanded a CBI enquiry into the recent killing of PWD executive engineer M K Gupta in Auraiya, allegedly by BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari and his men.

Addressing a Maharally of the party at Jagatganj inter-college premises here yesterday, Apna Dal president Sone Lal Patel accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of failing to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and demanded a CBI enquiry into the engineer's murder. The party has a strong base of Kurmi voters in this area, which falls under the Gangapur assembly seat (now changed after delimitation into Rohania and adjoining seats). Patel criticised the ruling party for allegedly collecting money from various sections of the society, including government officers and announced that the party would observe Hatyara Diwas on January 15. The rally was also addressed by senior party leaders Athar Jamal Lari and Mehmood Alam.
