New Delhi: Four members of an inter-state gang were arrested Monday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a Delhi University student last week.

The 18-year-old girl, a resident of Noida, was abducted by three car-borne men from Sunday bazaar in Sector 58 police station area Jan 4 when she went with her mother for shopping.

The kidnappers allegedly assaulted the girl in the car and even tried to rape her before dumping her near a Ghaziabad village three hours later.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested Amit Gujjar along with his three associates from north Delhi while they were approaching the national capital, a senior police officer said.

According to the police, the gang has been involved in heinous crimes like contract killings, dacoity, robbery and car jacking in Delhi and the national capital region.
