Monday, January 12, 2009 18:14 [IST]

Agra: A man wanted for the murder of a youth leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) was Monday shot dead by the police here.

Sanju Pandit was killed in a shootout when he was entering Agra. He was on the run since Manish Yadav was murdered last month, Senior Superintendent of Police Prem Prakash said.

Two others accused in the case surrendered last week in a court. Another accused, constable Sanjeev Tomar who has been sacked, is absconding.

An Italian pistol was recovered from Pandit. There was a reward of Rs.5,000 on Pandit, who was also wanted in half a dozen cases relating to property disputes, the police said.
