Banka: A fast track court today awarded life imprisonment to one person for murdering a four-year-old boy in Banka district of Bihar.
Additional District and Sessions Judge A S Choudhary sentenced Ashok Kumar Mondal for life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him after he was convicted of murdering four-year-old Nitish Kumar on April 29,1997.
The court, however, acquitted two other accused Pramod Mandal and Subodh Mandal for want of evidence.
As per the prosecution, relations soured between Mandal and Nitish Kumar s father over construction of a boundary wall with the former threatening to eliminate the innocent boy. After the child went missing, police recovered the body from Mandal's house and arrested him.
