Court adjourns Raju's bail plea till January 16

Disgraced Satyam founder Ramalinga Raja and his brother Rama Raju may have to cool their heels at least till January 16 as a local court deferred hearing on their bail petitions and police sought their custody.

The court of 6th Chief Metropolitan Magistrate also deferred hearing till January 16 market regulator SEBI's plea for recording a statement of Raju.

CB-CID also moved an application seeking police remand of accused, which will also be heard on January 16.

Rajus lawyer Bharat Kumar told reporters: "We have sought a days time to file counter affidavit on the plea of SEBI on which the court has granted the time and adjourned all the four applications to January 16."

Kumar said that a team of 25 lawyers has been put together to defend Raju and others.

Besides Raju and his brother, Satyams ex-CFO Vadlamani Srinivas too is in judicial custody till January 23 and all are lodged in the Chanchalguda central prison.
