Kuwait: Three Indians were killed and one injured in a blast in a gas pipeline at a mosque in central Kuwait.
The blast killed three Indians identified as Udhyan Kumar, Vijay Kumar, brothers hailing from Kerala, and Kasif Ali from Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh, Charge d Affairs of Indian Embassy in Kuwait Dinesh Bhatia told PTI over phone.
Another Indian, identified as Javed Ali from Muzaffaranagar in UP, was injured in the blast that occurred in the precincts of the Shiite mosque at around 6.15 p m yesterday.
"Udhyan and Vijay had gone to the site to meet some local friends when the incident occurred," Bhatia said citing the information received from Kuwaiti authorities.
However, Kasif and Ali were working at the mosque.
Fire department official Yussef al-Ansari told official news agency KUNA that the explosion occurred in the kitchen of a Husseiniya in Al-Ahmadi in south of Kuwait City last evening.
The blast was caused by a leak in the gas pipes.
Bhatia said the Embassy was in touch with those close to the victims and arrangements are being made for the dispatch of the bodies home for last rites.
