Pithoragarh: All the five bridges on river Kali across Indo-Nepal Border in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state will be fitted with close circuit cameras to have surveillance on people coming from Nepal, a senior SSB official said Monday.
"The budget has been allotted for these devices by Government of India," said Sashastra Seema Bal DIG S Bandhophadhay over telephone from Ranikhet.
Besides CCTVs, 15 more Border Observation Posts are also being built along the 275 km-long Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand, taking the number of BOPs to 62.
"As a follow up to the Mumbai terrorist attack we are keeping extra vigilance on Indo-Nepal border and have introduced at least one identity requirement for people coming from Nepal," said the DIG.
The DIG did not rule out the presence of ISI activities in Terai region of the state.
