New Delhi: Delhiites woke up to a chilly morning today with the minimum temperature dipping to five degrees Celsius, the third lowest recorded this season. A thick blanket of fog also engulfed the city in the morning affecting flight operations as well as road traffic.
The minimum dropped by 1.6 degree Celsius this morning from yesterday s 6.6 degrees Celsius. Today's minimum temperature was two notches below normal for this time of the year.
The maximum temperature yesterday was 21.2 degree Celsius. The Met department said the maximum temperature will hover around 20 degrees Celsius while the minimum will be around eight degrees tomorrow.
There may be fog in the morning and mainly clear sky throughout the day, the weathermen said.
January this year has been warmer so far as compared to last year when the minimum temperature dropped below five degrees a number of times.
The season's lowest temperature was recorded on January 2 when the minimum temperature plummeted to four degrees. On January eight, the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.5 degree Celsius, the second lowest of the season.
In 2008,the lowest temperature during the month was recorded on January 2 when the mercury dipped to 1.9 degrees.
