Chandigarh businessman arrested for raping
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 12:02 [IST]

Chandigarh: A businessman was arrested here after his personal secretary accused him of rape, police said Tuesday.

"We have arrested the accused Anurag Aggarwal and started our investigations. The rape has been confirmed in the medical examination of the victim," Ramesh Chander, investigating officer, told IANS.

The victim, who is in her early 20s, joined 30-year-old Aggarwal's finance and loan provider company in Sector 22 Thursday.

In her complaint to the police Sunday, she alleged that she was taken by Aggarwal to a hotel in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh on the pretext of a business meeting and molested Saturday.

However, the victim Monday revealed in the court that she was also raped by the accused and was threatened of dire consequences if she told anyone about this. On Monday evening, the businessman was arrested.

"The accused had started his company Action Finance in December 2008. He will be produced in the court Tuesday," Ramesh Chander said.
