Tuesday, January 13, 2009 13:16 [IST]
Srinagar: Three civilians were injured in a grenade blast which is suspected to be carried out by militants at the general bus stand of the city early morning today, police said here.

The grenade, hurled by militants on a bunker manned by CRPF personnel at the main gate of the bus stand at Batmaloo locality of the city in central Srinagar, missed the intended target and exploded on the road injuring three pedestrians, the police said, adding the injured were rushed to a hospital.

Police and security personnel have cordoned the area and launched a manhunt to nab the militants responsible for the act, they said.

However, no militant outfit has so far owned responsibility of the attack.

This is the first such incident in the city since the NC-Cong coalition government took over on January five.
