Chandigarh: Bone-chilling temperature and dense fog affected normal life in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, with many places recording an all time low today.
Several trains were delayed due to fog and the traffic movement at highways was also disrupted as visibility dropped to zero at many places.
Rohtak was the coldest place in the region at 3 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological department said today.
Many parts of Haryana were gripped by intense cold, fog and piercing temperatures at night, especially Ambala where visibility had dropped to zero at 3.5 C, they said.
Narnaul followed at 3.6 C. Bhiwani and Karnal too braved temperatures at 4.4 and 4.6 degree Celsius.
Chandigarh woke up to a misty morning as temperature at night had dropped to 6.0 C.
In Punjab, cold wave froze Amritsar at 3.1 C, a degree below normal. Thick fog led to poor visibility.
Ludhiana also braved the chill at 3.9 C, while Patiala was at 4.2 C, down by three notches.
The visibility dropped to zero at Adampur, Halwara and Bathinda.
