Musalpur: Forty-six militants belonging to NDFB and ULFA today surrendered to police here along with explosives and assault rifles in lower Assam's Baksa district.

Forty-two National Democratic Front of Bodoland and four ULFA militants, including a woman cadre, surrendered at a ceremony in the office premises of the district Superintendent of Police here.

Two of the surrendered activists have been identified as B Sumang and Dino.

The deposited arms and ammunition include 50 kg TNT explosives, two AK-56 rifles with two magazines of 300 rounds ammunition, two 9-mm pistols with two magazines of 17 rounds of ammunition, two Chinese pistols and revolvers, one pen pistol with six rounds of ammunition and 18 grenades.

Inspector General of Police A K Sinha, Superintendents of Police of Baksa and Nalbari, P K Dutta and Jitmol Doley respectively, were present at the ceremony.

A large group of militants of the NDFB, now on truce with the Centre, were from the militant outfit's camp here.

The surrendered ultras said they joined the mainstream frustrated with their leadership.

The NDFB had split on January 1 after the expulsion of its founder President Ranjan Daimary.
