Over 200 kg of ganja seized in Delhi

New Delhi: Six persons were arrested and over 200 kg of ganja seized from them in two separate incidents in the national capital, police said today.

Four persons were caught from near Zia Sarai in south Delhi on January eight allegedly with 154.9 kg of ganja. Harish Chand Giri, Raj Kumar Shah, Surender Shah and Nagender Pal were on their way to Gurgaon in a car when they were arrested allegedly with ganja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

They were intercepted at Zia Sarai but the driver of the car tried to negotiate the barricades and escape from the scene, he said, adding they were later caught. During searches, ganja was seized and the car impounded. In another incident, Lovelesh Kumar and Upender Rajput were arrested from near Lado Sarai bus terminal in south Delhi yesterday with 47 kg of ganja. They belong to Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, police said. They have been charged under separate cases under relevant sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) Act.
