Uproar in Bihar Assembly by CPI-ML MLAs

Bihar Assembly today witnessed an uproarious scene with the CPI-ML MLAs, supported by others from the opposition bench, storming the well of the house in protest against the police branding the party's senior MLA Ramnaresh Ram a 'naxalite' in a murder case in Bhojpur district.

As soon as the house assembled for the day, CPI-ML (Liberation) MLAs, waving placards and shouting anti-government slogans, trooped to the well, voicing concern over the police action branding Ram a naxalite.

"The state government should immediately intervene and withdraw the FIR against Ram", party leader Arun Kumar said. "It was extremely unfortunate that the police wanted to defame an octogenarian leader like Ram," added Kumar.

"It is an insult to Ram and a registered political party," Kumar said, adding the FIR in the case related to killing of a villager was registered by the Chauri police in Bhojpur district way back in 2000.

"It is matter of utter surprise that Ram has been falsely implicated in the case after eight years of the incident which reflected an afterthought," Kumar said.
